Pullaro: "Rosario Airport will give a higher scale to the province and the region"

The Governor supervised the progress of the works being carried out at the new terminal, which is already over 70%. "By putting our accounts in order, we are encouraged to carry out these works that have been at a standstill for many years in Rosario".

Governor Maximiliano Pullaro toured the area where works are being carried out at the International Airport Rosario "Islas Malvinas".  The vice-governor, Gisela Scaglia; the ministers of Productive Development, Gustavo Puccini and Public Works, Lisandro Enrico; the secretary of Transport and Logistics, Renata Ghilotti; and members of the board of directors of the airport terminal were also present.

Pullaro pointed out: "We need to give Rosario a stopover, for that it has to have an airport in conditions, with the best technology and logistics. Let's remember that last year we had 500,000 passengers; in the best moment of this terminal, there were 1 million, but let's also think about the whole area taking Buenos Aires, Córdoba and Entre Ríos: there are 28 million passengers that could be or pass through here".

Afterwards, the governor stressed: "We are carrying out an investment of 80 million dollars, and there are still 18 or 20 million dollars left to invest in what is missing to finish this first stage and to be able to reach 3.5 million passengers. This will give the city of Rosario, the province and the region a completely different scale and projection," he said.

"We believe and we are convinced that Santa Fe will be the engine that will drive the change that is coming in Argentina. That is why we are working to strengthen the entire productive system, industry, the countryside and all the potential; and precisely for that reason, we must have an airport in good condition and for that we must invest," Pullaro said.

Significant progress of the works

In another part of the Governor's meeting with the press, he said that the airport is going to have a chute and that "if everything goes well, we will inaugurate it in December for international flights. For the second part, we have a projected inauguration in March".

He added: "Afterwards, there is a second stage of development on the north of the airport, which has to do with the investment we are making on Jorge Newbery Avenue, which is 45 million dollars, for the widening, piping, and the running of the electricity network and, of course, with the double route on each side, which will allow us to have much faster access to the airport and the surrounding neighbourhoods.

Pullaro, asked about the search for new international flights, clarified that "first we have to have the structure and infrastructure that allows us to carry out the necessary logistics for the stopover we are looking for; and secondly, of course, we have to look for all the internal and international flights that allow our passengers to leave and arrive here in Rosario and not have to travel to Cordoba or Buenos Aires".

"This has to be a logistical pole, so that we can also take out different types of goods from here, and for that our airport has to be in good condition", Pullaro assured.

The construction of the new terminal is 72% complete and is expected to be finished in March 2025. The works include new baggage belts, escalators, lifts, an enlargement of the boarding area and new offices, as well as fixed bridges, a pivot building and two handling areas.
