Lunes 17 de noviembre de 2014 The Santa Fe delegation that participated in the second instance of the Evita National Games 2014, held from the 10 to 15 of the current month in Mar del Plata, got the second position in the overall medal tally behind Buenos Aires and Cordoba.
In this way, the province of Santa Fe crowned 51 gold medals, 34 silver and 31 bronze ones; besides other 21 gold medals, 10 silver and nine bronze of our adapted swimming team.
More than 500 young people went through the various stages of the Olympics and ranked first in the provincial instance. On this occasion, competing in the following disciplines: football, handball, hockey, volleyball, beach volley, canoeing, chess, cycling, athletics, swimming, rhythmic and artistic gymnastics. On their part, older adults participated in Newcom, sapo (toad), shuffleboard, chess and artistic competition.
"The participation in this national stage is one of the Santa Fe Olympics lines of work. Reaching Mar del Plata with the different selections is the consequence of a process embodied in the various qualifying stages in the programme which includes, and from which there are representatives in each discipline", remarked the Secretary of Sports Development in the province, Pablo Catán.
The official said that "in some cases, beyond sports results, it is significant the possibility to compete on a team representing the province, and compete with the 23 remaining provinces in the country".
Catan added, "Somehow, this competition serves to measure the fitness level of the province, but it is mainly important to highlight the possibility that this program offers to many young people who came here and knew the sea and the city, allowing them to enjoy this moment in a great context as it is sports".
