Pullaro Backs Historic Investment to Modernize the Port of Santa Fe

Santa Fe governor’s decision will modernize the port’s infrastructure, add technology to reduce environmental impact, and better connect the port with the city. The investment will exceed 1.1 billion pesos.

“With these projects, the port is once again taking center stage on the waterway and serving as the driving force behind Santa Fe's economy,” said Minister Puccini.

Santa Fe’s provincial government unveiled the Santa Fe Port Construction Plan, a Governor Maximiliano Pullaro initiative backed by more than $1.1 billion in investment. This is an unprecedented investment aimed at modernizing port infrastructure, incorporating state-of-the-art technology, optimizing logistics, and developing new public spaces that integrate the port with the city.

The program aims to strengthen the competitiveness of the provincial logistics system, reduce the environmental impact of operations, and consolidate the Port of Santa Fe as a strategic player within the Main Waterway. “Infrastructure is the foundation of productive development.

With these projects, the port will once again become a key player on the waterway and a driving force for Santa Fe’s economy,” stated Minister of Productive Development Gustavo Puccini.

Among the projects already completed, the renovation of the loading pipelines—which optimizes the efficiency of bulk material transfer—and the implementation of the Spraycool system, designed to reduce emissions and airborne dust during operations, stand out. Both projects are now operational. In addition, construction has begun on a new truck unloader, which will increase unloading speed tenfold and improve safety conditions for workers.

Secretary of Transportation and Logistics Mónica Alvarado emphasized that “the Port of Santa Fe is becoming a more efficient and safer facility, with technology that improves operations and infrastructure that integrates it with the city. This is a crucial step toward ensuring that logistics keep pace with the province’s economic

At the same time, the provincial government is moving forward with drafting the specifications for new high-impact projects, including the addition of an automatic cutting machine that will raise safety and quality control standards, extraction systems to reduce particulate matter emissions, and the installation of solar panels—all as part of the strategy to transition toward more sustainable port operations.

Deputy Secretary of Transportation Jorge Henn emphasized the strategic scope of the plan: “These projects consolidate the Port of Santa Fe as a key player within the Trunk Waterway. Governor Maximiliano Pullaro’s policy decision to invest in port infrastructure strengthens the competitiveness of our production and opens new opportunities for the entire region.”

In addition to operational improvements, the 2026 Construction Plan includes a series of urban projects aimed at strengthening the port’s connection to the city. Among these are the development of the Paseo Ferroportuario—designed as a safe and accessible public space—and the construction of new roundabouts on internal streets to organize the flow of pedestrians, cyclists, and vehicles, thereby increasing road safety.

Leandro González, president of the Santa Fe Port Authority, stated that “this plan is possible thanks to the province’s decision to support the restoration of port infrastructure as a cornerstone of productive development, and to the commitment of the Authority’s workers and its Board of Directors. “These are not isolated projects, but rather a provincial strategy to restore the role of the Port of Santa Fe within Santa Fe’s logistics network, with predictability and coordinated efforts between the public and private sectors”.

As part of this long-term strategy, the provincial government is also working on drafting the bid specifications for the future tender for the Container and General Cargo Terminal, an initiative that will bring in private investment, incorporate new technology, and expand the port’s operational capacity to attract new cargo and boost the development of Santa Fe’s foreign trade.
