Puccini: "Exporting via our ports and airports makes companies more competitive while saving time and reducing costs"

The Minister of Productive Development urged local business leaders in Venado Tuerto to use provincial ports and benefit from increased cargo activity at Rosario International Airport.

This Friday, in the Industrial Park "La Victoria" of Venado Tuerto, the Government of the Province of Santa Fe, through the Ministry of Productive Development, deployed a logistics promotion operation that brings together all the key actors under its orbit. The objective is clear: that Santa Fe companies export more, using the provincial infrastructure -ports, airports and the Free Trade Zone-, which allows them to reduce time and logistic costs.

"The only way this country can move forward is by producing more. And for that we must generate tools for the private sector, which is the one that generates employment in each locality," said Minister Gustavo Puccini.

"The message is clear: use our ports, our airports, take advantage of the Free Trade Zone. By operating from our province, you will save time, costs and be more competitive. This is a central axis of the productive policy of the government headed by Maximiliano Pullaro", he remarked.

The event was attended by representatives of 20 companies from Venado Tuerto and the region, members of the Industrial Parks Cooperative; the Regional Chamber of Industry and Foreign Trade of Southern Santa Fe; the local Rural Society; the College of Economic Sciences and the Regional Centre for the Development of Southern Santa Fe.

The mayor Leonel Chiarella, the senator Leticia Di Gregorio, the secretary of Transport and Logistics, Monica Alvarado, and authorities of the port authorities, the airports of Rosario and Sauce Viejo, the Free Trade Zone and Customs also participated.

Santa Fe production-enhancing infrastructure

Puccini highlighted that Santa Fe has 850 kilometres of waterway, a strategic advantage that has no comparison in the country. "Other provinces would pay anything to have this resource. And we also have orderly ports, working in a coordinated manner, something that has never been done before", he emphasised.

"Any of the province's ports plays a strategic role. If there is production from Santa Fe, Cordoba, San Juan or Mendoza leaving through our ports, this is positive for Santa Fe and for Argentina", he added.

For her part, Secretary Alvarado, gave an overview of the logistic movement managed by the province: "We have 60 million tons of cargo moving within Santa Fe, and another 65 million tons coming from other provinces. All this cargo is moved by 2 million trucks, 215,000 wagons, 2,500 ships and 5,600 barges. This gives us the dimension of the logistics matrix we work with".

"We have a sustained work to improve that logistics. Sometimes when we say 'logistics', it is not always well understood, but basically it means lowering costs and reducing times. Infrastructure is a necessary condition, but not sufficient. That's why we also articulate and organise all the logistical actors in the province," he said.

Mayor Chiarella also underlined the importance of the initiative: "This meeting generates concrete opportunities for our city, for the region and for the entire productive sector. Being able to interact face to face with the representatives of the logistic entities opens doors so that our companies can not only supply themselves, but also to send their products to the world in a more efficient and competitive way".

Exporta Simple: a clear example of transformation

During the conference, the case of Ivolution, a company from Sunchales dedicated to the production of sports equipment, which managed to reduce 2,500 dollars in an export operation to Bogotá by using Rosario International Airport instead of Ezeiza, was presented. "This was achieved very recently, thanks to the implementation of the Exporta Simple tool. We broke the logistical monopoly that Ezeiza historically had for air cargo. Today, many companies that previously depended on Buenos Aires can now export directly from Rosario", explained Puccini.

In the activity, the presidents of the port authorities of Villa Constitución, Rosario, Santa Fe and Reconquista, together with the authorities of the Free Trade Zone and the airports of Rosario and Sauce Viejo, presented the services, operational capacities and competitive advantages of each logistic node to the companies of the region.
