Governor Maximiliano Pullaro headed a new meeting of the Mesa de Diálogo Santafesino (Santa Fe Dialogue Table) on Wednesday, during which an assessment was made of public safety in the province of Santa Fe.
During the activity, which took place in the White Hall of the Government House in the city of Santa Fe, Pullaro said: "For us it is very important that civil society is aware of public policies and their application. Public security policy in particular has a very high level of complexity. You are leaders so that citizens can understand where the provincial government is going in terms of security and justice. That is why we wanted to show you the actions carried out by the police and the penitentiary service of the Province of Santa Fe and the investments we have made".
In this context, the governor stressed that "last year was the year with the lowest rate of violence in the province in the last 25 years. This was due to a multiplicity of factors, which we hope will be repeated this year.
Pullaro went on to explain that "before, people went to the police station and the police station gave answers, investigated, prevented and took complaints. In a few years' time, police stations will no longer exist: there will be police stations that concentrate the operational and preventive activity of police personnel. With the new policing system, the police response time has decreased because there is a control system and an institutional framework that puts police cars on the streets, which follows them with a routine task and allows them to respond in a significant amount of time. We also have to be very careful with this, because we are going through very complex times and we all have to understand the direction the province is heading in", he concluded.
Public security policies
For her part, the Secretary for Institutional Management of the Ministry of Justice and Security, Virginia Coudannes, remarked that "the Mesa del Diálogo is made up of 15 institutions from the city of Santa Fe. We participated in a meeting with a great deal of richness in the exchange that is generated in these listening spaces. Today we made a presentation on security policies in the city of Santa Fe, in the department of La Capital, where we drew up a balance sheet for 2024 and an account of what was done with respect to what was proposed at last year's meeting".
Regarding the work that the provincial government has been carrying out in terms of security and crime prevention, the secretary said that "one of the strengths of our security system has to do with 911, which is the heart of the security system. We came into office with a response time, in the city of Santa Fe, of 17 minutes, today we are at 5 minutes in high priority incidents, which are qualified robberies, situations of gender or domestic violence, suicide attempts and the most urgent emergencies. The importance of giving continuity to these follow-up and monitoring spaces with other issues on the agenda of the government of the Province of Santa Fe was also highlighted".
Dialogue and consensus
The Mesa de Diálogo Santafesino is a space for reflection on relevant issues of the social reality that, through dialogue and consensus, works in the search for solutions against poverty, corruption, the strengthening of education, security and care for the environment.
