The Rosario International Airport (AIR) "Islas Malvinas" has added new technology to optimize and modernize its operations and consolidate aeronautical safety. In this context, it announced the installation of a new digital panel that will allow the control tower to control the entire lighting system, thus reducing the response time: "We are working on the modernization of the air terminal and we are adding a new touch screen system that will replace the analog command and will improve the airport's operation based on superior technology", said Esteban Bretto, Chairman of the Board of Directors.
The AIR, which since December has been under the orbit of the Ministry of Productive Development, headed by Gustavo Puccini, aims to consolidate regional connections, and begin to develop cargo transportation.
More technology
Regarding the technical specifications of the latest addition, the digital touch screen control panel will allow the centralization of all operations related to the beacon system on a single screen, providing better resources to tower personnel for the benefit of air operations.
The work was carried out in two stages. In the first stage, a board was installed and provisionally operated. In the second phase, the commands (ALS, Runway Edge, Taxiway Edge, Runway Thresholds, SALS, PAPI's, Stop Bar, Alpha and Bravo, REIL and Lighthouse) were unified and migrated to a single, larger screen. The work also required the installation of fiber optics to connect the controllers to the new command system.
This new technology is in addition to the incorporation of the Approach Lighting System Full ALSF (Approach Lighting System Full), which allows for safer landings: "The approach lights consist of a 900-meter light extension that allows position identification, making operations more efficient on days with low visibility due to fog, minimizing flight cancellations and delays," the terminal said.
In conclusion, Bretto emphasized that "Minister Puccini's administration sees the airport as a fundamental piece in a system of connections that brings Santa Fe closer to the rest of the world. Today, the AIR is an important player in a network of ports and airports. They must be strategic allies for trade and tourism. The growth of the province and the development that Santa Fe can bring to the country depends largely on understanding the potential and promoting the competitiveness of these areas.
