The Minister of Government and Reform of State, Pablo Farías, received the Swiss Ambassador to Argentina, Heinrich Schellenberg. The objective of the meeting was to make progress on the work that the Swiss Foundation Es Vicis is developing with the commune of Colonia Belgrano to build houses.

The non-profit foundation Es Vicis is a Swiss non-governmental organization whose mission is to reverse the unsustainable countryside-city migratory trend in the world.

To achieve this, it develops programs with governments integrating multiple stakeholders from local civil society for housing construction and peoples' sustainable development.

The NGO selected Argentina to carry out the first pilot test for the world because it has 92% of the population living in fast-growing cities with pockets of poverty and exclusion and, at the same time, rural areas depopulated, but with high potential for economic development that lie dormant throughout the country.

Since 2014 the Swiss Foundation Es Vicis is supported by the Swiss embassy in Argentina and by several Swiss civil associations in Santa Fe, in order to explore the potential of social and economic development of 14 villages in 2 departments of the province of Santa Fe: Las Colonias and San Martín. Currently the pilot is carried out in Colonia Belgrano, for which a contract was signed to build 20 houses between the Directorate of Housing and Urbanism and the Commune of Colonia Belgrano.

In this context, it implements the program called "Welcome to my town", a program of public and private cooperation, that integrates the local and provincial government. This program offers the people the search for families who want to establish a business in the village covering the needs of the community and region; training for local entrepreneurs and accompaniment to the community within the program "Mi Town 2030" in order to oversee their own sustainable development.

Also, the families that migrate to the village are offered trainings for the development and formalization of their businesses; guide for the construction of the houses and support for the migration and integration process. Both local entrepreneurs and families are provided with soft loans for the development of their businesses and families who migrate have access to flexible loans to finance their houses.
