The Secretary of Sports Development, Pablo Catan, said, "It is a great news for Rosario and the province to receive again an international event. In 2017 we had the world tournament of archery, the youth of volleyball in Santa Fe and Rosario and, next year with the same dynamic, will be the basketball and the Argentinian beach games, also in Rosario, which serve as a precedent for the South American Beach 2019 ".
"We are very happy with the confirmation of the South American Youth Games 2021. Obviously, the teamwork carried out by the province, the municipalities, the associations and federations, the clubs, sportsmen and all the actors, contribute to achieve good results, " said Catán and stressed the confidence of the national and international entities to further develop this type of events in Santa Fe.
On the other hand, Rosario’s mayor, Mónica Fein, commented, “It is a pride for Rosario to be chosen by Odesur to organize these three South American Youth Games, which, we have no doubt that they will be the best".
"Rosario is the city of sport and youth, and this designation extends horizons in a way that we have started long time ago. We bet on sport as an element of integration and social inclusion and we know that these international competitions leave a legacy for the city that will allow us to bring closer and closer the young people to the values of sport, " Fein concluded.
Meanwhile, the President of Odesur, Camilo Pérez López Moreira, celebrated the arrival of the games to Rosario and said, "Our young athletes will compete in a beautiful city where the passion for sport is breathed. We want to harness the energy of a city that was the cradle of world-class sports stars to promote the Olympic spirit to all of South America, " he emphasized.
It should be recalled that in the Odesur Assembly, the Olympic committees and sports federations of the different countries of South America and the Caribbean define the venues of sporting events for the next few years.
SOUTH AMERICAN YOUTH GAMES
After its first two editions carried out in Lima (Peru) in 2013 and in Santiago de Chile in 2017, the South American Games will arrive for the first time in Argentina in 2021. Unlike the last edition, Rosario proposes to perform both collective and individual sports, so it is estimated that around 2000 athletes from 14 nations will compete in 31 different Olympic disciplines.
The Youth games have the characteristic of being played by young talents between 14 and 17 years old, who in addition to their sporting competitions will share cultural events.
