The Minister of Social Development of the Province, Jorge Alvarez; the Mayor of Rosario, Mónica Fein; and the Vice President of the Argentine Olympic Committee, Mario Moccia, officialized the designation of the city of Rosario as a venue for the South American Beach
Games 2019. It was in the context of the Beach Games and Alternative Sports that took place at the Florida Beach Resort.

"From the provincial government we accompany these international events because they give the province a hierarchical structure and encourage sport", said Alvarez, and recalled: "We hosted the Volleyball Girls U18 World Championship, the World Youth Archery Cup, and in 2018, the Male Basketball U17 World Cup. We are very pleased with the recognition and work with the municipality, associations, federations and the Olympic Committee to make a success in all the challenges that lie ahead."

On his part, Fein said, "In Rosario, we will be seat of these South American Beach Games that will make history, especially for other cities that have no sea. We are prepared for the challenges, together we made it possible. We are deeply proud of the love that Rosarinos have for sport", concluded the Mayor.

Meanwhile, Moccia said, "It is a momentous event", at the time that emphasized, "Rosario is kick-starting to put Argentina in a privileged position".

During the South American Beach Games, Rosario will receive around 2000 athletes who will participate in 14 disciplines. "The South American Games are for us an enormous challenge which must help as background for the future, to organize something larger; in 2022, the Odesur games and later we have an alternative for the Pan American Games", said the Undersecretary of Sports of the Municipality, Adrián Ghiglione.

A BIT OF HISTORY
The South American Beach Games were created by the American Sports Organization (Odesur) in 2009. It's a competition with more than 10 disciplines related with sand and water.

The first edition was held in the Uruguayan cities of Montevideo and Punta del Este. In 2011, the competition moved to Manta in Ecuador, and in 2014, La Guaira and Naiguatá, Venezuelan cities were elected venues.

BEACH GAMES AND ALTERNATIVE SPORTS
Organized by the Ministry of Sport Development of Santa Fe and the Municipal Secretary of Sports, the first edition will be held this Saturday and Sunday with a large attendance of public at the Florida Beach Resort.

The event, with free admission, had 11 different sports, tournaments, clinics, lectures and meetings. Beach and alternative sports games aimed to offer, through lectures, a space of analysis and reflection on the objectives and activities inherent to each discipline.

It also seeks to provide a space of relevant disciplines and sports,  promote and disseminate their activities and, at the same time, support beach and alternative sports creating a specific space for the interrelation of the different disciplines and modalities in our province on the occasion of the South American Beach Games 2019.
