Santa Fe builds relationships with the Netherlands to address water issues

In the context of the participation of the provincial government in Expoagro 2017, it was held a meeting between provincial officials, representatives of the Argentine Association of Direct Sowing Producers (Aapresid), and the Embassy of the Netherlands in Argentina, in order to articulate advisories on water issues and analyze future instances of cooperation for the support of projects in the field.

"The Netherlands have been conducting experiences of this kind with other Argentine provinces and we believed that the water situation in Santa Fe was relevant to start an institutional linkage that will allow us to address the issue," said the Secretariat for Planning and Institutional Relations, Gabriela Filippini, after the meeting.

In addition, she pointed out, "We are working on the preparation of a framework agreement between Argentina and the Netherlands in which the water theme is going to be a key point, in that order will seek to start a link".

"The European country – she continued-, has had a National Water Authority from the 13th century. Since then it has had a tradition in initiatives in response to weatherization related with water, risk prevention and land-use planning, knowledge that we want to learn".

Besides Filippini, the meeting brought together the Ministry of Production, the Undersecretary of Agriculture and Natural Resources, Diego Fournell, and the Executive Director of the Santa Fe International Trade and Investment Agency "Santa Fe Global", Débora Mariani. There also were representatives of the Ministry of Infrastructure and Transport, the Secretary of Water Resources, Juan Carlos Bertoni, and the Provincial Director of Studies and Projects, Pablo Bellittieri; in representation of Aapresid, Guadalupe Coverton and Santiago Nocelli; and on behalf of the Dutch Embassy, the Agricultural Adviser, Bart Vrolijk and the Adviser on Agri-food Affairs, Maria José De Lazzer.
